Hyderabad Startups Launch Mini-Satellite for Earth Observation
Two startups from Hyderabad, TakeMe2Space and EON Space Labs, have built a small satellite called MOI-1.
It weighs only 14 kg, which is much lighter than usual satellites.
This satellite has a special camera that can take pictures of Earth with high detail.
It can help in farming, city mapping, and even tracking ships.
The satellite also has a computer that processes the pictures in space, making it cheaper to send the data back to Earth.
It will be launched by ISRO from Sriharikota in early January 2026.
This is the first satellite project for EON Space Labs and the first in a series for TakeMe2Space.
TakeMe2Space and EON Space Labs completed testing and integration of a 14 kg Earth observation satellite and a miniature space telescope in Ahmedabad.
The satellite, MOI-1, will be launched by ISRO's PSLV mission from Sriharikota in early January 2026.
MOI-1 is designed to provide commercial and defense data with a projected lifespan of 3-5 years.
The satellite features a 9.2-meter resolution camera with 9 multispectral bands for detailed imaging.
MOI-1 includes an onboard computer for in-orbit processing, reducing data transmission costs.
