Bhogapuram Airport to Open in August 2026
A new airport called Bhogapuram Airport will open in the city of Visakhapatnam, India.
The Prime Minister will open it on August 1, 2026, and it will start letting people fly on August 17, 2026.
The airport can handle a lot of passengers—about 60 lakh a year.
It will have all the usual airport things like check‑in counters, security, lounges, shops, and restaurants.
Flights from the old Visakhapatnam airport will move to Bhogapuram, and the new airport will serve cities like Hyderabad, New Delhi, and Mumbai, as well as international destinations like Singapore and Dubai.
People can get to the airport by car, taxi, or bus on National Highway 16.
Bhogapuram Airport, a greenfield facility near Visakhapatnam, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 August 2026.
The airport will begin commercial operations on 17 August 2026, taking over all scheduled passenger flights from Visakhapatnam Civil Enclave.
It is designed to handle 60 lakh passengers annually and will offer check‑in, security, lounges, shopping, and restaurants.
Domestic routes will include Hyderabad, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Vijayawada, Tirupati, and other nearby cities; international services are planned to Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, etc.
Access will be via National Highway 16, with private vehicles, taxis, airport shuttles, and buses available.
