8th Pay Commission: Pensioners Await Clarity on Relief
The 8th Pay Commission is expected to be implemented in 2026–27.
Pensioners and employees are worried because the Terms of Reference (ToR) do not clearly say if pensions will be revised.
Usually, pensions are revised to keep up with current employees' pay, but this time it's not clear.
Pensioners are afraid they might not get a fair increase.
They are also waiting to see if the government will merge Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) with basic pay, which would give them more money.
The Finance Ministry will answer questions about this in Parliament on December 2.
Many people are waiting to see what the government says.
8th Pay Commission expected to be implemented in 2026–27.
ToR is silent on pension revision for retirees before January 1, 2026.
Pensioners fear permanent injustice if DA is merged into basic pay but not into pensions.
Employee unions and pensioner bodies are demanding clarity on pension revision and DA/DR merger.
