BofA: Rupee May Strengthen to 84/$ with US Trade Deal
Bank of America thinks the Indian rupee might get stronger, maybe reaching 84 to the US dollar by the end of 2025.
This is because of a possible trade deal with the US, cheaper oil, and a good financial situation for India.
The expert, Adarsh Sinha, thinks the rupee will do well, but maybe not as well as some other currencies.
Even though interest rates in the US are going up, money will likely keep flowing into India.
While some countries are trying to use the US dollar less, it won't happen fast.
The dollar is still expected to be the main currency for a while, at least the next five years, for global trade.
BofA predicts the Indian rupee to strengthen to 84 against the US dollar by the end of 2025.
A US trade deal, soft oil prices, and a favorable current account deficit are seen as positive factors.
The rupee's appreciation may be less than some G10 and emerging market currencies.
Capital flows into India are expected to continue despite rising US interest rates.
De-dollarization is not expected to quickly impact the US dollar's global dominance in the next five years.
