HPCL to Provide 3,000 Piped Gas Connections in Siliguri by March 2026
HPCL is going to give special gas connections to homes in Siliguri.
They plan to give gas to 3,000 homes by March 2026, starting with 500 homes first.
They are also going to give gas for cars in other places nearby.
HPCL is spending a lot of money to build the gas pipes and other things needed.
They have already built some of the pipes, but it's taking a bit longer because there are other pipes and wires in the way.
This is all to help the environment by reducing bad gases in the air.
HPCL will provide piped natural gas (PNG) connections to 3,000 households in Siliguri by March 2026, starting with 500 households in the first phase.
The project will initially cover areas like Bagdogra, Matigara, Shivmandir, and Atharokhai, with plans to extend to Jalpaiguri town and other nearby areas.
HPCL is investing approximately ₹1,700 crore to develop natural gas infrastructure in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and North Dinajpur districts.
Pipeline-laying is currently underway in civic areas of Siliguri, with about 60% of the work completed, aiming to cover nearly 50km.
The initiative also includes providing compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles in the mentioned districts to reduce carbon emissions and maintain ecological balance.
