Uttar Pradesh Targets 50 Million Flag Hoistings in 2026
The state of Uttar Pradesh wants to put the Indian flag on the roofs of 50 million homes this year.
The chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, said the flag should be a big, national movement that makes everyone feel proud.
He also wants movies to play the national song and anthem on Independence Day.
The state has already put flags on many homes in past years and will make sure more flags are made and given out.
Special events will happen on the day of the Kakori train attack, on Independence Day, and on the day that remembers the pain of the Partition, so that young people learn about history and stay united.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath set a target of hoisting the National Flag at 50 million households for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The campaign includes mandatory screening of the national song and anthem in all cinema halls on August 14‑15 and a series of rallies, concerts, exhibitions, and cleanliness drives across the state.
The state has previously hoisted the flag at over 41 million households in 2022, rising to 47.6 million in 2025, and officials are directed to ensure timely production and distribution.
Special programmes are planned for Kakori Train Action Day, Independence Day, and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, with exhibitions, candle marches, and discussions to educate youth.
The CM urged all government, semi‑government, and private institutions, as well as local bodies and social organisations, to participate and display the tricolour on their premises.
