Thane–Airoli Creek Bridge Project Advances with Three Bids
A big bridge is being planned to connect the city of Thane with Navi Mumbai.
Three construction companies have offered to build it.
The bridge will be 1.4 kilometres long and will have six lanes.
It should finish by 2030.
The bridge will start near a road called Mithi Bandar Road and cross a creek to end near Patni area.
It will help people travel faster and avoid traffic jams on the old roads.
Three firms—Akshaya Infra Projects, Hindustan Construction Company, and Specon Infrastructure—have submitted bids for the 1.4‑km cable‑stayed bridge.
The bridge, costing roughly Rs 700 crore, will connect Kopri (Thane) to Airoli (Navi Mumbai) and is slated for completion by 2030.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will evaluate technical and financial proposals before selecting a contractor.
The new six‑lane bridge aims to relieve congestion on the Kalwa Bridge and Thane‑Belapur Road, offering a faster route from Thane Railway Station to Airoli.
Construction will start near Mithi Bandar Road, 700 m from Thane Railway Station, and cross Thane Creek to land near Patni area in Airoli.
