November Driest Month in Decades for AP
November was one of the driest months in recent decades for Andhra Pradesh.
The state usually gets about 98.8mm of rain in November, but this year it only got 32.8mm, which is a big shortfall of 69%.
Most places in Andhra Pradesh and the South Peninsula didn't get enough rain.
Only East Godavari and Nandyal had near-normal rainfall, but still with some deficit.
The Alluri Sitarama Raju district had the worst shortfall with 98% less rain than usual.
Across India, the rainfall was also low, with a 43% shortfall.
The Northeast Monsoon, which is important for rain in the South, didn't bring much rain this year.
Tamil Nadu was the only state that didn't have a very big shortfall, with only 18% less rain.
Experts say that because the Cyclone Ditwah weakened, there won't be much rain in the coming days.
Andhra Pradesh recorded only 69% of normal rainfall in November, with a deficit of 66mm.
Alluri Sitarama Raju district had the highest deficit at 98%, recording just 0.9mm against the normal 40.3mm.
East Godavari and Nandyal had near-normal rainfall but still faced deficits of 8% and 18% respectively.
Pan-India rainfall was 43% below normal, marking the second lowest since 2018.
Northeast Monsoon failed to deliver, with four out of five subdivisions over the South Peninsula experiencing significant rainfall shortages.
