Police Intensify Cybercrime Focus in 2026
Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police are planning to pay more attention to cybercrime in 2026.
They have noticed that many scams, like 'digital arrests' and 'investment' scams, are now coming from places like Cambodia and Dubai instead of within India.
This makes it harder to catch the criminals and recover the stolen money.
The police have been running big operations called CyberHawk to arrest scammers and recover money.
They are also going to start a new center called S4C to help with cybercrime.
They are working with banks to freeze accounts quickly when they get a complaint.
The police want to make sure they can protect people better from these online scams.
In 2025, Uttar Pradesh Police froze Rs 325.25 crore and recovered Rs 382.25 crore, showing improved response times and coordination.
They have also increased the number of cyber police stations and trained personnel to tackle cybercrime effectively.
Delhi Police are intensifying their focus on cybercrime for 2026 due to a rise in scams originating from abroad.
Cyber fraudsters are increasingly operating from places like Cambodia and Dubai, making it difficult to recover stolen money.
Up to mid-November 2025, less than 16% of the money swindled from Delhi residents could be tracked and recovered.
Operations like CyberHawk 2.0 and CyberHawk 1.0 have led to significant arrests and money recovery.
The establishment of the S4C (State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre) is planned for 2026 to enhance cybercrime coordination.
