Differently-Abled Cricketers Inspire at Kolkata Event

Differently-Abled Cricketers Inspire at Kolkata Event

Last week, an event was held at EIILM in Kolkata to celebrate differently-abled cricketers.

Fifteen players from the West Bengal Cricket Association for the Differently Abled (WBCADA) and the Bengal Cricket Association of the Deaf (BCAD) were honored.

These players have overcome significant challenges to play cricket at a high level.

For example, Debraj Banerjee, who was run over by an SUV and was bedridden for over a year, now plays for WBCADA.

Jit Sengupta, who has a congenital disability in his legs, has always loved playing cricket and has learned to thrive on challenges rather than pity.

The event included a match where the differently-abled players won by 32 runs against a team from the British deputy high commission.

The chairman of EIILM pledged financial support to two players and announced that the institute's cricket team would play a match with the differently-abled players.

Andrew Fleming, the British deputy high commissioner, shared his own challenges and encouraged the students to set their own goals and dare to dream.

The event was inspiring and showed how determination and resilience can turn weaknesses into strengths.
