Vijayawada Mandates Daily Water Quality Tests
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has ordered daily tests of drinking water to make sure it's safe.
The commissioner, H.M. Dhyanchandra, checked water supply in different areas and found old pipes causing leaks and contamination.
He told officials to fix these pipes quickly and check water quality every day.
They should also talk to people in hill areas where water supply is often a problem and fix issues fast.
If the water smells bad, officials need to find out why and fix it right away.
The commissioner also wants to hear from the public about water quality every day.
Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner H.M. Dhyanchandra ordered daily water quality tests across the city.
Inspections were conducted in several localities, including Vemula Shyamaladevi Road and Gangireddula Dibba Water Treatment Plant.
Ageing and damaged pipelines were identified as causing leaks and contamination risks.
Officials were directed to replace damaged pipelines promptly and ensure continuous monitoring of water quality.
Special attention was given to hill and elevated areas with frequent supply issues, with daily field inspections and prompt complaint resolution.
