Revanth Reddy Assures Rs 5,000 Crore for Telangana Irrigation Projects
In Telangana, a state in India, big canals carry water to farmers' fields.
To build these canals, the government needs to buy land from people.
The leader of the state, Revanth Reddy, has promised a lot of money — 5,000 crore rupees — to pay for that land.
Some of the money, 2,000 crore rupees, has already been given, and the rest is on its way.
A minister named Uttam Kumar Reddy told officials to hurry up with the paperwork.
Buying land and getting permission to use forests has been taking too long.
One canal, called the Mid Manair Left Canal, has been stopped for about four and a half years.
The minister wants workers to start building it again.
When the canals are finished, farmers can water their crops and grow more food.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy assured Rs 5,000 crore for land acquisition and rehabilitation works linked to Telangana's irrigation projects.
About Rs 2,000 crore has already been released, with the remaining Rs 3,000 crore under process.
Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy directed officials to fast-track land acquisition, R&R, forest clearances and environmental approvals.
The review covered irrigation projects in Karimnagar, Jagtial, Peddapalli and Rajanna Sircilla districts.
Balance works on the Mid Manair Left Canal, stalled for about four-and-a-half years, were ordered to restart.
