India Seeks Greater Global Economic Influence Through Institutions and Markets

Anuradha Thakur said India is becoming more important in the world economy.

She explained that being a large economy is not enough to become a global leader.

Countries also need strong institutions, reliable markets and trusted financial systems.

India is working to strengthen these areas through reforms and deeper capital markets.

GIFT IFSC is part of these efforts.

India is also taking part in groups such as the G20, BRICS, OECD and FATF.

During India’s G20 presidency, the African Union joined the group.

Thakur said building a major global financial centre takes many years of steady work.
