Tirupati to Give Deworming Tablets to Five Lakh Children
Tirupati district will give free deworming medicine to children on September 25.
The programme is for children from 1 to 19 years old.
More than five lakh children are expected to receive the medicine.
Younger children will receive the tablet crushed and mixed with water.
Older children will be told to chew the tablet before swallowing it.
Trained workers will watch while the medicine is given.
Some children may briefly have stomach pain, nausea or a headache.
Children who miss the programme can receive the medicine on October 5.
Officials will also teach children about handwashing and cleanliness.
More than five lakh children in Tirupati district will receive free deworming tablets on September 25.
The National Deworming Day programme targets 5,04,058 children aged 1 to 19 years.
Children will receive Albendazole 400 mg tablets at schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres.
Children absent, unwell or unable to take the dose will be covered on Mop-up Day, October 5.
Officials will also promote handwashing, personal hygiene and cleanliness during the programme.
