Tamil Nadu Announces Major Temple Infrastructure and Heritage Drive

Tamil Nadu is planning a large program to improve temples across the state.

The government wants to repair old temples and protect their history.

It will spend money on 64 temples that are more than 1,000 years old.

Five more ancient temples will receive money from donors and temple funds.

In total, 150 damaged temples will be repaired in stages.

Visitors will get better facilities such as lockers, shaded paths, seating, and cleaner toilets.

The state will also restart a camp to care for temple elephants.

It will publish old devotional writings and organize cultural programs about village deities.
