GST Annual Return Changes Aim to Simplify ITC Reconciliation for Taxpayers

Imagine you're a shopkeeper and you buy things to sell.

The government has a tax called GST.

Sometimes, when you buy things, you pay GST, and you can get that money back later, like a discount.

This is called Input Tax Credit or ITC.

The government has changed the yearly tax report form (GSTR 9) to make it easier for you to show how much ITC you used.

Now, it's simpler to match what you reported and what you actually did.

If your business makes more than a certain amount of money each year, you have to file this yearly report and another one called GSTR 9C to double-check everything.

Doing this helps the government know everything is correct and stops you from getting into trouble with penalties.
