Congress Accuses Election Commission of Shifting Voter-Roll Duties
The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh accused the Election Commission of India of not doing its job properly.
They said the Commission is making voters responsible for updating voter lists, which is supposed to be the Commission's job.
A former chief minister, Digvijaya Singh, said there are many mistakes in the voter lists, like one house having 108 voters.
He wants the officials responsible to be punished.
The Congress party also had a meeting where they discussed how to fix these mistakes and make sure party leaders are appointed properly.
They will check and update the voter lists from December 9 to January 31.
The party's leader, Harish Choudhary, said all appointments must be approved by him and scolded party members for not following the rules.
Congress accused the Election Commission of India of shifting voter-roll duties onto people.
Digvijaya Singh demanded an FIR against booth-level officer and ARO for supplying 'wrong and fabricated' information.
Similar irregularities in voter lists were reported in multiple districts including Damoh, Ratlam, and Gwalior.
Congress state in-charge Harish Choudhary instructed that all party appointments must be approved by him.
Party leaders will carry out voter-list revision from December 9 to January 31.
