Broadcom Pursues Up to $100 Billion AI Debt Financing

Broadcom is discussing borrowing a very large amount of money to help build chips and computers for artificial intelligence.

The loan could be between $70 billion and $80 billion, and another plan could make it as large as $100 billion.

The money would help companies such as Anthropic obtain more computing power.

The plan builds on an earlier $35 billion agreement involving Broadcom, Apollo Global Management and Blackstone.

That agreement was intended to add about one gigawatt of computing capacity.

The partners hope to provide more than 20 gigawatts for major AI laboratories by 2028.

Anthropic is also trying to develop more control over its own computer chips.

It hired Amir Salek, who previously worked on Google’s custom-chip program.

The companies involved have not finalized or confirmed all the financing details.
