AP CM Naidu Criticizes High C-Section Rates in State
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu, is concerned about the high number of C-section deliveries in the state.
He said that many of these surgeries are happening when they may not be needed, especially in private hospitals.
He thinks some doctors are doing it for reasons other than health.
He's worried about money being spent on these surgeries and wants to work with hospitals to make sure C-sections are only done when medically necessary.
His goal is to encourage natural childbirth.
AP CM Naidu criticized private healthcare for high C-section rates.
Andhra Pradesh has one of the highest C-section rates in the country (56.62%).
Private hospitals account for approximately 90% of C-section deliveries.
Naidu suggested that some C-sections are performed for convenience.
