Mineral Block Auctions Face Poor Investor Interest
The government tried to sell off some areas with important minerals, like nickel and rare earth elements, through auctions.
However, the auctions didn't go as planned.
Some areas didn't get any bids, while others didn't have enough interested companies to meet the requirements.
Because of this lack of interest, the government canceled the auctions for some blocks, meaning they couldn't be sold.
These auctions were part of a larger effort to find companies to mine these valuable resources.
The Ministry of Mines annulled the auction process for five mineral blocks due to poor investor response.
Three blocks received no bids.
Two other blocks failed to meet the minimum bidder criteria.
Since 2023, the government has auctioned 81 mineral blocks.
Of the 81 blocks, 34 attracted enough bidders to proceed.
