Parliamentary Panel Recommends NGOs for Women Workers' Creches

Parliamentary Panel Recommends NGOs for Women Workers' Creches

A group in the Indian government called the Parliamentary Committee on Empowerment of Women made a report.

They found that only two places, Madhya Pradesh and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, have childcare centers (creches) for women who work in construction.

The report says these centers should be open for 8 hours to match women's work schedules.

The group also suggested that companies should use some of their charity money to help with childcare and maternity support.

They think the government should check more often to make sure these centers and other welfare facilities are available.

They also mentioned a good scheme called PALNA that helps with childcare but needs to grow faster.

The report wants to include health services for all women workers, both manual and office-based, and connect with local health centers.
