MP Directs Airport to Restore Taxi Parking
There's a problem at an airport in Bengaluru, India.
Taxi drivers who work there have been moved to a parking spot that's far away from the main building.
This makes it hard for them to get passengers, especially those who have a lot of luggage or are elderly.
The drivers are upset because they're losing money and it's harder to work.
A important person in the government, Dr. K Sudhakar, had a meeting with the airport and the drivers.
He said the drivers should be able to park closer to the main building again.
He also said that the drivers are important because they help a lot of people and many families depend on their work.
The airport and the drivers are trying to find a solution that works for everyone.
Private taxi drivers at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have been moved to a parking spot 500 metres away from the terminal, causing inconvenience.
Dr. K Sudhakar, a Member of Parliament, has directed airport officials to restore the previous parking arrangement to support drivers' livelihoods.
Around 18,000 to 20,000 taxi drivers, mostly from nearby districts, depend on airport services for their income, supporting nearly one lakh families.
Dr. Sudhakar suggested levying a nominal user fee for parking to manage congestion while ensuring drivers' access.
A resolution is expected within a week, with further discussions involving State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu if necessary.
