NCLAT Halts Gensol's EV Leasing Amid Dispute
Imagine a company called Gensol that leased electric cars.
Gensol went bankrupt, meaning it couldn't pay its debts.
A person called the IRP was in charge to manage the company's assets.
The IRP tried to lease out the electric cars.
But the company that originally leased the cars to Gensol, SMAS, said no because the leases were already over.
The court agreed with SMAS, stopping the IRP from leasing the cars.
Gensol's troubles also included accusations that its leaders misused investor money.
NCLAT stopped Gensol's IRP from leasing 152 EVs.
SMAS Auto Leasing India Pvt. Ltd. objected, citing expired lease agreements.
The IRP attempted to re-lease the EVs after the original leases had lapsed.
Gensol's insolvency was admitted on June 13th following a petition by Ireda.
Sebi accused Gensol promoters of diverting investor funds for personal use.
