Indian Railways targets 7,900 km track renewal in FY27
Indian Railways is working hard to make train tracks safer and better.
They plan to fix 7,900 kilometers of tracks in the year 2026-27.
Last year, they fixed 6,851 kilometers, and this year, they are working on more than 7,500 kilometers.
They are also upgrading special parts of the tracks called Thick Web Switches and Weldable CMS Crossings.
This helps trains move faster and more safely.
They have also added safety fences along the tracks to keep animals and people away, making train travel even safer.
All these efforts are making the train system in India much better.
Indian Railways plans to renew 7,900 track km in FY26-27, up from 6,851 km in FY24-25.
Over 7,500 track km of renewal is underway in the current FY25-26.
7,161 Thick Web Switches and 1,704 Weldable CMS Crossings were provided in FY24-25.
Over 8,000 Thick Web Switches and 3,000 Weldable CMS Crossings are being provided in FY25-26.
Indian Railways has doubled high-speed tracks from 31,445 km in 2014 to 84,244 km in 2025.
