NFL suspends 49ers owner Jed York for six games

The NFL has suspended 49ers owner Jed York for six games and fined him $500,000.

The league said he broke its personal conduct rules.

The punishment followed a case in Ohio after York was arrested in August.

He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges.

As part of an agreement, the prostitution charge was changed to disorderly conduct.

York has already missed three games, and those count toward his suspension.

He can return on October 20.

York apologized and said he takes responsibility for what happened.

He also said he hopes to earn back people’s trust.
