Injured India captain Shubman Gill won't bat in warm-up match
Shubman Gill is the captain of the Indian cricket team.
During practice one day, he hurt the ring finger on his right hand.
The finger was hit while he was batting and again while he was fielding.
Because of this, he did not play on the first day of a practice match against a Sri Lankan XI team.
The doctors and coaches say his finger is getting better, but they do not want to take any risk.
They decided he would probably not bat for the rest of the practice match.
India has a big Test series against Sri Lanka coming up soon.
The first Test begins on August 15 in Galle.
Gill is expected to be ready to play in that match.
The team wants their captain fit and healthy for the important series.
