Putin's India Visit Strengthens Energy and Defence Ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting India for two days to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They want to make better deals for selling Russian oil, missiles, and fighter jets to India.
India has been buying less Russian oil because of sanctions but is still interested in Russian defence equipment.
Both countries are talking about new trade agreements and helping each other with oil and defence needs.
They also want to work together on nuclear energy.
Russia has approved a deal to help each other's military, and they will sign an agreement to work together on nuclear power plants.
However, there are concerns about how the U.S. might react to these deals, especially since the U.S. has increased tariffs on Indian goods because India is buying Russian oil.
The visit is also a chance to strengthen the relationship beyond just defence and oil, by building a stronger economic partnership.
Russia says India listens and understands them, unlike Europe, which does not engage in dialogue.
Russia is aware of the trade imbalance and is looking to increase imports from India.
They are also working to create a trade structure that is not affected by sanctions or third-country influence.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is on a two-day visit to India to strengthen energy and defence ties.
India is set to import a three-year low of Russian crude oil this month due to sanctions and increasing U.S. oil purchases.
Putin's delegation includes key figures from Russian banks, oil firms, and defence exporters.
India is likely to discuss buying more S-400 air defence systems and potentially the Su-57 fighter jet.
Both countries are exploring new trade agreements and partnerships in civilian nuclear energy, including an MoU to deepen cooperation.
