Traveller Recalls China-Nepal Bridge Crossing Before Devastating Flood

Anurag Mishra recently travelled to Mount Kailash with a group of pilgrims.

They crossed a bridge between China and Nepal on July 12.

Later, a huge flood swept the steel bridge away.

Some pilgrims became stranded, and people were reported missing.

Mishra worries that a hotel where his group had eaten may also have been destroyed.

His journey included difficult walking at very high altitudes.

Pilgrims helped watch each other for signs of illness and dehydration.

The experience made him think about respecting nature and helping other people.
