Two convicted in Gwalior court for Vyapam impersonation
A long time ago, two men tried to cheat on a big exam in India.
One man, Amitesh, went to take the test while pretending to be his friend Vipin Kumar.
A test supervisor noticed that the man taking the exam did not look like the photo on the record.
The police registered a complaint about it.
Later, a special team called the CBI began investigating the case.
The two men were found guilty by a special court in the city of Gwalior.
The judge said they must go to jail for three years and each pay a fine of Rs 5,000.
This case is part of a much bigger cheating scandal called the Vyapam scam, which involves many recruitment and entrance exams in Madhya Pradesh.
The judge announced the decision on August 12, 2026.
The Special Court for Vyapam cases in Gwalior convicted two private individuals, Amitesh and Vipin Kumar, of impersonation in an examination.
Both were sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
Amitesh, a resident of Ghaziabad district, had appeared in the examination in place of the original candidate Vipin Kumar, a resident of Moradabad district, both in Uttar Pradesh.
The CBI re-registered the case on August 5, 2015, following orders of the Supreme Court of India, and filed a chargesheet on October 6, 2016.
