India’s Pumped Storage Race: 3 Stocks Target Rs 1.3 Lakh Crore

India’s Pumped Storage Race: 3 Stocks Target Rs 1.3 Lakh Crore

India wants a lot of batteries to store electricity for when people need it.

Three big companies are building special plants that use water to act like giant batteries.

Adani Green Energy plans to build 5 gigawatts of these plants by 2030, starting with a 500‑megawatt plant in Andhra Pradesh.

Tata Power will build 2,800 megawatts, with a 1,000‑megawatt project in Maharashtra by 2029.

JSW Energy wants 40 gigawatt‑hours of storage, with 3,000 megawatts under construction.

All three companies are growing their profits and want to help India use more clean energy.

They are different: Adani mixes storage with solar farms, Tata uses its own water sites, and JSW spreads its projects across many states.

The government says India needs 411 gigawatt‑hours of storage by 2032, and pumped storage will provide about 175 gigawatt‑hours of that.

The projects could bring in about ₹1.3 lakh crore in investment.
