Bandhan Bank Q1FY'27 Profit Rises 35%

Bandhan Bank, a private sector lender based in Kolkata, reported a 35% increase in net profit for the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year.

The bank's net profit rose to Rs 502 crore, up from Rs 372 crore in the same period last year.

Gross advances grew by 16.4% to Rs 1,55,555 crore, and net interest income increased by 5.9% to Rs 2,921 crore.

The bank's asset quality improved, with gross non-performing assets (NPA) at 3.1% and net NPA at 0.9%.

The provision coverage ratio stood at 85.9%, and the capital adequacy ratio was 18.2%.

However, the bank's shares fell sharply after it reduced its return on assets (RoA) guidance, citing narrower net interest margins and higher operating expenses.

The bank's managing director, Partha Pratim Sengupta, attributed the performance to the bank's resilience and stakeholder trust.

The bank also announced the appointment of Vinay Jain as interim chief financial officer.
