Cotton Mills Face Crisis Due to Poor Harvest in Kurnool
In the Adoni area of Kurnool district, cotton farmers expected a good harvest but got only half of what they planned because of too much rain.
The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) didn't accept all the cotton because it was too wet and not good enough.
This made it hard for cotton mills to get the cotton they need to work.
The mills need a lot of cotton every day, but there isn't enough.
Some mills might have to close if they don't get more cotton soon.
The district collector is trying to help by telling officials to let farmers sell their cotton directly to the mills.
Cotton supply in Adoni, Kurnool district, has sharply declined due to poor harvest and quality issues.
Farmers expected 8–10 quintals per acre but yielded only 50% due to heavy rainfall in September and October.
CCI rejected cotton with high moisture content and poor quality, initially purchasing only 4 to 6 quintals per farmer.
Cotton mills require 50,000–60,000 quintals daily and are facing difficulties due to limited supply.
8 to 10 cotton units are at risk of closure if the supply does not improve.
