Decathlon, UK University Partner to Develop Circular Cricket Gear
Decathlon, the sports retailer, is teaming up with a UK university to create cricket gear that's good for the environment.
They will design equipment like gloves and leg guards to be easily taken apart, recycled, and reused, cutting down on waste.
This new partnership will start in India, where cricket is very popular.
They plan to have the new gear ready by 2026 and will offer programs to buy back and fix the old gear.
The goal is to make cricket gear more affordable and create a model for other sports.
Decathlon partners with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) for circular cricket gear.
The initiative, called the Circular Cricket Gear Partnership (CCGP), focuses on design, manufacturing, and reuse.
The project will start with gloves and leg guards.
Prototypes are expected by early 2026.
Future plans include buy-back and refurbishment programs.
