Vimeo Layoffs Impact Senior Leaders After Acquisition
Vimeo, a popular video platform, has recently undergone its second round of layoffs after being acquired by a European tech company called Bending Spoons.
This time, a large number of employees, including senior leaders like Dave Brown, who was the VP of Global Brand and Creative, lost their jobs.
Dave Brown shared his feelings on LinkedIn, saying that while it's not the ending anyone would have chosen, he's proud of the work and relationships he built at Vimeo.
This is not the first time Vimeo has laid off employees; they did so in September 2023 as well.
Vimeo was previously owned by a media company called IAC and became a public company in May 2021.
Despite these changes, Vimeo continues to be a significant player in the video hosting industry, offering services beyond just hosting, like webinars and events.
Vimeo conducted its second round of global layoffs after being acquired by Bending Spoons.
Former VP Dave Brown was among those laid off and shared his feelings on LinkedIn.
Brown expressed pride in his work at Vimeo but acknowledged the layoffs were not ideal.
Vimeo previously laid off 10% of its workforce in September 2023.
Vimeo was spun off as a public company by IAC in May 2021.
