HC notice to state on UK doctor's plea
A doctor from the UK named Sangram Patil, who is also a YouTuber, went to India and was detained at the Mumbai airport.
The reason was some social media posts he made that were against certain political leaders.
He said the detention was not right, and a court in Mumbai agreed to hear his case.
The court asked the Indian government to respond to his request to cancel the legal case against him.
The next hearing is on February 4.
Bombay High Court issued notice to the state government regarding a plea by UK doctor Sangram Patil to quash an FIR against him.
Patil was detained at Mumbai airport over alleged objectionable social media posts against BJP leaders.
Patil challenged the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him, calling it illegal.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for February 4.
Patil's lawyer argued that there was urgency in the matter as Patil was unaware of the FIR when he traveled to India.
