UK Introduces Stricter Road Safety Norms
The UK has introduced new rules to make roads safer.
One of these rules is called Dev's Law, named after a little boy who died in a car accident.
The new rules include making sure cars have special brakes that work automatically if the driver doesn't react in time.
The government wants to reduce the number of people who die or get hurt in car accidents by a lot over the next few years.
They also want to make sure older drivers can see well and that young drivers get better training.
The rules will help make sure everyone is safer on the roads.
UK introduces stricter road safety norms, including Dev's Law named after an eight-year-old Indian-origin boy killed in a 2018 accident.
New measures include mandatory Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) in new vehicles and improved training for young learner drivers.
The strategy aims to reduce road deaths and serious injuries by 65% by 2035, with a 70% reduction target for children under 16.
A new Road Safety Investigation Branch will be established to analyze collision patterns and inform prevention strategies.
The government will also crack down on illegal number plates, uninsured drivers, and vehicles without a valid MOT.
