Apple’s ‘Welcome Home’ Event May Debut New Smart Home Devices
Apple may soon show off several new ways to manage a smart home.
One possible device is a screen that sits on a counter and helps control connected devices.
It might recognize who is using it and show that person useful information.
An iPhone could help confirm the person’s identity and protect private details.
Apple may also introduce software called HomeOS to connect smart home features across devices.
The Apple TV and HomePod mini may receive updated processors.
The HomePod mini could also come in more colours.
Apple is reportedly working with LG on accessories such as locks and thermostats.
These products and features are expected, but the article does not say they have been officially announced.
Apple is expected to introduce a smart home hub with a touchscreen reportedly around six inches.
The hub may use voice and facial recognition to show personalized information, with an iPhone as a secondary identity check.
A reported HomeOS platform could bring smart home controls and features such as FaceTime to compatible devices.
The Apple TV and HomePod mini are expected to get processor upgrades, with the HomePod mini potentially gaining new colours.
A reported partnership with LG could produce connected home accessories, while a touchscreen MacBook Pro and revamped iPad mini are also anticipated.
