Delhi Constable Alleges Assault During Rahul Gandhi Detention

A group of opposition lawmakers held a protest in Delhi.

They were protesting alleged problems with the way voter lists were being updated.

Police stopped them from marching, and some lawmakers, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained.

A police constable, Ankit Kasana, said protesters attacked him while officers were trying to move Gandhi’s car.

He said they tore his uniform, scratched him and bit him.

He went to a hospital for a checkup.

Police said they had registered three cases connected to the protest.

The protesters wanted a group of lawmakers to meet Election Commission officials.
