AINRC Retains Thattanchavady Seat, Wins Bypoll by 8,482 Votes
People in Thattanchavady voted in a by-election for their Assembly seat.
AINRC candidate Ashok Anand won with 13,358 votes.
He received 8,482 more votes than Congress candidate E Vinayagam.
Vinayagam received 4,876 votes.
DMK candidate K Sethu came third with 2,664 votes.
Counting started at 8 a.m.
on Friday and took four rounds.
The voting had taken place on Monday.
The election was needed because Chief Minister N Rangasamy had resigned from the seat after also winning in Mangalam.

Anand defeated Congress candidate E Vinayagam by 8,482 votes; Vinayagam received 4,876 votes.
DMK candidate K Sethu, also known as Sethuselvam, finished third with 2,664 votes.
Counting began at 8 a.m. Friday and ended after four rounds at Motilal Nehru Government Polytechnic College in Lawspet.
The bypoll followed Chief Minister N Rangasamy’s resignation from the seat after he also won from Mangalam; the election was held on Monday.
