Indore Water Deaths Inquiry Blames Officials for Pipeline Failures

Indore Water Deaths Inquiry Blames Officials for Pipeline Failures

People in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area became sick after sewage got into drinking water.

The problem happened because an old water pipeline was not replaced quickly enough.

A new pipeline project also faced delays.

A judicial commission investigated the deaths and examined 36 cases.

Lawyers say 24 deaths were directly connected to the contaminated water.

In 12 other cases, the connection could not be proven clearly.

The commission reportedly blamed about eight to 10 officials for administrative failures.

The full report has not yet been made public, and political leaders are asking for its release.
