Travel Agents Push for More International Flights at Calcutta Airport
Travel agents in Calcutta had a meeting with the new airport director, Mr. Vikram Singh.
They asked for more direct flights to places like London because many people travel to Europe and the US from Calcutta.
They already have flights to Guangzhou and Cambodia, but the Cambodia flight isn't very popular yet.
The agents also talked about how passport applications take a long time because of extra checks to stop fake documents.
The passport officer, Mr. Ashish Middha, suggested using DigiLocker for documents to make the process faster.
The meeting was held at a hotel, and there was even a cake-mixing ceremony to celebrate the festive season.
Travel agents requested more direct international flights from Calcutta, specifically a Calcutta-London route.
Existing international flights include Guangzhou and Cambodia, with the latter's demand yet to pick up.
Passport verification processes have been strengthened due to recent forgery issues.
The regional passport officer encouraged using DigiLocker for document submission to expedite the process.
The meeting was attended by the new airport director, Vikram Singh, and regional passport officer, Ashish Middha.
