MSCI India Index Adds Adani Energy, Lenskart, Groww Parent
MSCI is a company that makes lists, called indexes, of important companies in different countries.
One of its lists is the MSCI India Index.
In August 2026, MSCI looked at its list for India and made some changes.
It added four new companies: Laurus Labs, Lenskart Solutions, Adani Energy Solutions, and Billionbrains Garage Ventures.
Lenskart is an eyewear company, and Billionbrains owns an investing app called Groww.
MSCI also took three companies off the list: Astral, Balkrishna Industries, and SBI Cards.
The new list starts on September 1, 2026.
Many big funds around the world use this list to decide which Indian companies to buy.
Being on the list can make a company more visible to global investors.
MSCI added four Indian companies to the MSCI India Index in its August 2026 review: Laurus Labs, Lenskart Solutions, Adani Energy Solutions and Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the parent of Groww.
Astral, Balkrishna Industries and SBI Cards and Payment Services were removed from the index as part of the review.
The revised composition takes effect on September 1, 2026, following adjustments after the market close on August 31.
The total number of constituents in the index will rise to 166 from 165, covering around 85% of India's equity universe.
Lenskart (listed November 10, 2025) and Billionbrains Garage Ventures (listed November 12, 2025) entered the benchmark within 10 months of their debut, and the rejig may trigger about $2.3 billion in passive inflows.
