ED Raids SEW Infra, Group Firms Over Money Laundering Allegations
The government is investigating a company called SEW Infrastructure (SIL) for money laundering.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is like a financial police, searched their offices and took important documents.
They believe the company moved money in a way that wasn't allowed.
The ED is working with the CBI, another investigative agency, because the company is accused of taking loans and using the money in ways they weren't supposed to.
The company created a special project to build roads with a loan from multiple banks.
However, the ED found out that the project did not get the expected money, and now the banks have not been paid back.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducted searches at SEW Infrastructure Ltd (SIL) and related entities.
Searches were part of a money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Financial and property documents with a market value of about ₹120 crore were seized.
33 bank accounts belonging to SIL and SEW Transport Networks Ltd (STNL) were frozen.
