Furious Review Examines Women, Abuse and Vigilante Justice
Furious is a television series about women dealing with terrible abuse and unfair systems.
Catherine was trafficked as a teenager and begins killing rich older men.
She says she is taking revenge for what happened to her and for the murder of her friend Isabel.
Alice, an FBI agent, investigates the killings and sees similarities between herself and Catherine.
Nora, another FBI official, knows secrets about the case.
The women are often ignored, mistreated or blamed by powerful men.
The show asks whether people who have suffered can also become dangerous.
The review says the series is tense, emotional and full of strong performances.
It also says one late twist involving Alice is less convincing than the rest of the story.
The Hulu series follows Catherine, a trafficked survivor who targets wealthy older men for revenge.
FBI agent Alice investigates the murders and recognizes Catherine as a dark mirror of herself.
The story draws on Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes while expanding its focus to broader forms of abuse.
Nora, head of the FBI’s Sex Crimes unit, adds suspense by concealing information about Isabel’s death.
The review praises the performances and tension but criticizes the series’ late revelation about Alice.

Praise
Reservations
Treatment of female characters
Praise
The series challenges the idea of an ideal victim by presenting women who are manipulative or violent while still deserving empathy.
Reservations
Its focus on violent revenge and morally compromised characters may make the story deliberately provocative and ambivalent.
Story and tension
Praise
The review praises the intimate camerawork, unpredictable developments, suspense and blistering exchanges between men and women.
Reservations
The narrative is described as twist-heavy and initially baggy, and it only properly gains momentum in the third episode.
Alice’s character arc
Praise
Alice works effectively as Catherine’s counterpoint and recognizes Catherine as a version of herself shaped by abuse.
Reservations
A late revelation intended to strengthen Alice’s identification with Catherine does not work as smoothly as the rest of the series.
