Telangana Employees Association Demands Facial Recognition Attendance Colleges
A teachers’ association in Telangana wants colleges to use facial recognition for attendance.
The association says the government had already directed colleges to use this system last year.
However, the system has reportedly not been introduced yet.
The colleges mentioned include engineering, pharmacy, MBA, and MCA institutions.
The association says some people misuse biometric attendance systems.
It says this can mean students do not receive enough teaching.
The association wants more teachers to be hired.
It also wants colleges to follow the required cadre ratio.
TSTCEA State President Aineni Santosh Kumar demanded facial recognition attendance in technical colleges.
The Telangana government reportedly issued a circular last year to replace biometric attendance with facial recognition.
The system has not yet been implemented in engineering, pharmacy, MBA, and MCA colleges.
Santosh Kumar alleged that biometric workarounds, including silicon thumbs, contribute to faculty shortages and reduced education quality.
He also called for hiring unemployed teachers and implementing the cadre ratio in technical colleges.
