Delhi HC Rejects Wankhede's Defamation Suit
Sameer Wankhede, an IRS officer, has filed a defamation case against Shah Rukh Khan's production house and Netflix.
He says the web series 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood' shows him in a bad light and hurts his reputation.
The court will decide on January 29, 2026.
Wankhede wants the court to stop the series and pay him Rs 2 crore, which he will give to a cancer hospital.
He also says the series insults India's national slogan and breaks some laws.
The court has already asked the defendants to respond to these claims.
However, the Delhi High Court rejected the suit, stating it lacks jurisdiction to entertain the case, and suggested Wankhede file the plea in an appropriate court.
Delhi High Court rejected Sameer Wankhede's defamation suit against Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix, stating it lacks jurisdiction.
Wankhede alleges the web series 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood' defames him and tarnishes the image of anti-drug enforcement agencies.
He seeks permanent injunctions, damages of Rs 2 crore (to be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital), and other reliefs.
The series is accused of insulting India's national slogan and violating the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
The court had earlier issued summons to the defendants, indicating that the allegations warranted judicial examination.
