UPI Transactions Hit Record 21.63 Billion in December 2025
In December 2025, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in India saw a record number of transactions, reaching 21.63 billion.
This is a 29% increase from the same time last year.
The total value of these transactions was ₹27.97 lakh crore, which is also a 20% increase.
On average, there were 698 million UPI transactions every day in December.
Throughout the year 2025, there were 228 billion transactions worth nearly ₹300 lakh crore.
This growth is being driven by new ways of paying, such as using conversations and biometric authentication.
The ecosystem is evolving to make payments more transparent and trustworthy for users and merchants.
