Toxic Metal Found in Jewelry on Amazon, TikTok Shop
A report by The Sunday Times found that some cheap jewelry sold on Amazon and TikTok Shop contains a lot of a toxic metal called cadmium.
This metal can cause serious health problems like cancer and kidney damage.
The jewelry was tested and found to have way more cadmium than is allowed by law.
For example, a ring sold as silver on Amazon was actually 92.3% cadmium, which is more than 9,000 times the legal limit.
TikTok Shop also had a bracelet that was 33% cadmium, which is about 3,300 times the legal limit.
Both platforms have taken action to remove these harmful products.
Experts say that while not everyone who wears this jewelry will get sick, it is still dangerous, especially for children or if the jewelry comes into contact with food or open skin.
