Afghanistan seal 4-0 series win behind Rahmat Shah's unbeaten 143

Afghanistan and Ireland played the last match of a five-game cricket series.

Afghanistan had already won the series by winning three games, with one game rained out.

Ireland batted first and scored 298 runs, thanks mostly to Curtis Campher's 96 runs.

Afghanistan then needed 299 runs to win.

Their first two batters were out very quickly, leaving the team in trouble at just 22 runs.

Then captain Rahmat Shah and Sediqullah Atal batted together and added 201 runs, a record partnership for Afghanistan.

Atal scored 98 runs, just two short of a century.

Rahmat Shah stayed in and scored 143 runs, his best one-day score ever, and Afghanistan won with six wickets to spare.

The win gave Afghanistan a place in the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
