Doctors Launch '2 Ghante Desh Ke Naam' Free Weekly Consultations
Some doctors in Delhi, India, have made a very generous promise.
Every week, they will spend two hours seeing patients for free.
The program is called '2 Ghante Desh Ke Naam,' which means 'Two Hours for the Nation.'
The doctors want to help people who do not have much money.
Usually, seeing a doctor costs money, and some families cannot pay.
With this program, nobody has to pay for a consultation.
Patients can talk to a doctor on a video call or visit a hospital in person.
There are many kinds of doctors in the program, like eye doctors, heart doctors, and mental health doctors.
The doctors hope to help people in villages and places far from big cities.
In the future, they plan to ask doctors all over India to join this good cause too.
Doctors across Delhi launched '2 Ghante Desh Ke Naam', pledging two hours of free consultation every week to serve the poor and underprivileged.
Consultations will be free via video or in person at participating hospitals, targeting patients in rural and underserved areas.
Participating specialities include ophthalmology, orthopaedics, oncology, psychiatry, paediatrics, cardiology, gynaecology and general medicine.
A team of eight senior eye specialists led by Dr Ikeda Lal of Delhi Eye Centre is offering free eye checkups and treatment guidance.
The initiative plans to expand across multiple states and invite participation from doctors nationwide in the coming months.
